Yes, you can. The individual will need to come into the office and supply a photo ID, Social Security Number, and signature on the Residential Application for Service (PDF) form.

You will have to complete an Residential Application for Service (PDF) form and you will need to know or have on hand the items on the list below:
- Copy of lease / proof of occupancy
- Driver's license (photo ID) / Passport
- If required, the Meter Deposit must be paid at the time of service
- Exact address for service, including apartment number
- Previous address
- Valid phone number
- Employer information
- Social Security Number
A new account fee will be billed when the account is established. Same day connection will be subject to additional fees.

The charge is a $25.00 connect fee; it is charged to all new service requests.

Fill out the appropriate application listed below and send via fax at 860-446-0183 or via email to have your electric and/or water account activated. Groton Utilities requires a minimum of two business days prior to your move date.

When submitting your application, be sure to have the following information:
- Copy of lease, if applicable
- Security Deposit - All customers are subject to a credit check to determine Security Deposit. A Customer Service Representative will contact you after receipt of the application and copy of the lease, if applicable.
- The exact address for service, including the apartment number
- Valid phone number
- Employer information

If you need to arrange termination of your utility service, please call us at 860-446-4000. We require a minimum of 2 business days prior to your move to arrange for termination.
